Personal:

I've been running for most of my life. I ran track in college and got into long distance running a few years ago. I did my first marathon at L.A. in 2006.

I work full time as a race director for the Ragnar Relay team. We put on the Wasatch Back Relay, along with 3 other races each year in Minnesota, Washington, and Arizona. It's a challenging job- especially in the summer when so much travel is required.

Craig, my long-time training partner, has been trying to get me to join this site for a while. He keeps talking about Sasha, the "running prophet". So here I am.

I'm married (Trevor) and have a 3 year old boy (Jackson).

I am just starting with this blog today.  I have been training for marathons for the last four years, but I have not seen as much improvement as I had expected.  Through some friends, I heard about this site and have decided to run according to Sasha's standards, which is 6 times a week (I had been running the three times a week program, a hill workout, speed workout and long distance run).  I started running 6 days a week two weeks ago at 3 miles a day and I have increased this week to four miles a day.

Today I met with my personal trainer this morning for an hour, then ran on the treadmill for four miles.  I increased the incline to 2% and ran at a 8:00 to 7:30 pace.  I hate treadmills, but I was in a hurry to get to work so I had to give in and do it.

Welcome to the blog! I think I met you at Top of Utah expo. I've been working with Dan and Tanner for the last couple years on the Ragnar course maps as a sponsor. It's great to have a Ragnar staff on the blog. Lots of us on the Blog run the races. I'm planning on doing WBR again this year, and also NWP.

Welcome, I really think this site can help with bring down that marathon time as well as give you motivation to train on those days you just don't want to because you know someone is watching your every move. Scary hu.

Welcome Dominique! It's great to have you on here.

Ran four miles today.  Not feeling well, some sort of head cold, sore throat and just all around yuck.  I have a 10 mile run tomorrow with a group, I hope I don't feel worse tomorrow.

My goal this year is to run 3:20 at the San Diego Rock-n-Roll Marathon (June 1st).  Not sure if I have enough time from now until then to make that sort of improvement.  Also, in looking at my half marathon times (1:37) versus other runner's half marathon times, it seems I should be running my marathons faster than 3:40.

Don't bow out on me tomorrow! I'm not about to do a loco run in the miserable wet/cold without some entertainment.

Yes, you are capable of 3:20. I think your training in the past has been good, but the weekly mileage has been too short for the marathon.

I didn't know you actually wanted to run San Diego for time. I would be interested to see what kind of course it is. It's the Rock-n-Roll marathon, but some runners must still run it for time.

How is your training coming along?

Easy Saturday run.  It took me longer to warm-up than normal, about four or five miles.  It was really warm at 7am, then the storm moved in and the wind picked up, a few times it felt like we were running in place because the wind was blowing us back so hard.

Ran from my house to Liberty Park (around twice) and back.  Once again, seemed like I wasn't really warmed-up until I was about 3.5 miles in and then I was almost home.

Welcome to the blog. What a cool job...full time RD. You must have met many the bloggers here from their participation in your relays.

Ran at the gym before hitting the weights with my personal trainer.  I really hate the treadmill.  The workout with my personal trainer was intense and I left with shaky legs and arms.  In between all sets he had me run, which really kept my heartrate up.  Good times.

I agree- treadmills suck.

Welcome to the blog. Where is that picture taken?

The blog members are very familiar with Ragnar Relays. I've done WBR 3 times and RDS 1 time. Plus I think Paul told you he does the maps.

That picture is from Little Cottonwood Canyon a year ago.

I had to miss Craig's trail run on today as I was up all night with a sick three-year-old and my husband had a fishing trip planned for that morning.  I ended up going out for an 8 mile run on my own around the Sugarhouse area.  It was a great day weather wise, air quality not so much.

I felt pretty good, but my calf and quads are still sore from the gym the other day (obviously I hit the weights a little too hard).  It took quite a long time for my sore muscles to warm up and get in the groove.

I met with my personal trainer this morning for an hour.  We did a tough circuit workout on legs and a little bit of cardio.   It was so warm outside, so I drove home and ran to Liberty Park and back to get in 4 miles.  What a great morning, I couldn't believe it was still dark when I got home from running.

The run felt great, but my legs were tired from the workout at the gym.

This was a fun little run around Murray Park and the surrounding areas. I couldn't find my running friends at first, so I called Craig and asked where they were at. He was clueless, but we ended up finding each other after 10-15 minutes.

We took a nice little stroll around the park and neighborhoods. The group consisted of me, Craig, Andrea, Johnny, Murphy (the dog), and Traci. Craig, Andrea, and Johnny got on the usual UFC topic, which totally bores me. All that talk about "submissions" and stuff really gets to me after a while. Irritating.

We stopped at a nice little smoothie shop and got samples. Yummy!

We had a nice little chat afterwards about our upcoming races. I plan on doing the Moab 1/2 Marathon, so we'll get a team together and register. My goal this next year is to qualify for Boston in June at the San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon. Craig thinks it won't be a problem if I continue to stay active on this blog site and listen to the running guru (Sasha).

Hey- sounds like a great evening run you had on Monday!!

From nikki on Tue, Apr 01, 2008 at 12:45:30

Sounds like a nice run. I know that it sounds bad but I am quite the UFC fan. My husband has kind of got me into the sport. He use to be wrestler in high school. It sounds bad but Randy Couture just came into my work last week and I was pretty star struck. I am so jealous that you have so many people to run with. I have to pull teeth to get a group to run with me. Keep on truckin!
